What is Sojourner Church?

Sojourner Church is a Christian church plant in Jackson, Mississippi, seeking to love God, love our neighbors, and follow Jesus together. We exist to serve our city by proclaiming the gospel and cultivating a welcoming, multi-ethnic and generational community rooted in God’s grace.

Why the name “Sojourner”?

The word sojourner reflects the Bible’s teaching that God’s people are pilgrims—welcomed by grace, not defined by background, status, or past. We believe everyone is invited to belong and grow as they journey with Christ.

Is Sojourner Church new?

Yes. Sojourner Church is a new church plant. That means we are intentionally building a community from the ground up, with a focus on relationships, faithfulness, and long-term presence in Jackson.

What do you believe?
Sojourner Church is a Christian church rooted in the historic teachings of the Bible. We believe in one God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—and salvation by grace alone through faith in Jesus Christ.

What does PCA mean?
PCA stands for Presbyterian Church in America. The PCA is a Reformed Protestant denomination that emphasizes the authority of Scripture, God’s grace, and a thoughtful, historic Christian faith.

Do I have to agree with everything to attend?
No. You do not need to have everything figured out—or agree with everything—to attend. Questions, doubts, and exploration are welcome.

Do visitors have to give money?
No. Giving is an act of worship for members of the body of Christ and regular attenders. Guests are never expected to give.

Sojourner Church is supported by generous individuals, partner churches, and members who believe in the mission of our church.

Who leads Sojourner Church?
Sojourner Church is led by ordained pastors and overseen within the Presbyterian Church in America. We value accountability, transparency, and servant leadership.
